The Roaring Spring meat processing and retail facility has been approved to receive a 15-year loan of $250,000 from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Agency for the construction of a 3,000 square foot additional facility.

Mitchell and Bethann Frederick operate in a 2,800 square foot building. The added size will more than double. The project is estimated to cost US$500,000.

The completed 5,800 square foot facility will include retail space, offices, restrooms, tailoring rooms, preparation space, two walk-in coolers and a walk-in freezer. The project is expected to retain four jobs and create three new full-time jobs within three years.

In addition, Jeremy and Mary Breon received a 12-year PIDA loan worth $400,000 to build a 26,880 square foot poultry broiler house at Breons Farm in Tell Township, Huntington County.

The Bruns signed a seven-year contract with Farmers Pride Inc, which was automatically renewed for seven years. The broiler house will become the main source of income for the farm and will mark the transition of the Bruns from dairy operations to poultry broiler operations. The total cost of the project is US$841,000.

Both loans were provided through the Southern Allegheny Planning and Development Commission.
